How to Store Lyophilised Research Peptides

Research peptides are supplied lyophilised — freeze-dried into a dry powder — because peptide in dry form is far more stable than peptide in solution. How you store that powder directly affects whether your research material stays intact or degrades. Here's how to do it properly.

Before reconstitution: keep it cold, dry and dark

Store lyophilised peptides at -20°C, kept desiccated (away from moisture) and out of direct light. In this state, dry peptide is stable for extended periods. A freezer, a sealed container and a desiccant sachet are the three things that keep the material in reference condition.

Avoid temperature swings and condensation

One of the most common handling mistakes is opening a cold vial straight from the freezer. Cold glass pulls moisture out of the air, and condensation introduces water into the powder — exactly what you're trying to avoid. Let a vial reach room temperature before you open it, then reseal and return it to storage promptly. This is why desiccation and a proper seal matter as much as temperature.

After reconstitution

For in-vitro work, peptide in solution is less stable than the dry powder. Reconstituted material is typically kept refrigerated and used within a shorter window. Bacteriostatic water is the reconstitution medium commonly used in research settings, which is why it's a standard companion purchase.

Handling in short

Good storage discipline is the difference between reproducible results and wasted material. Every DNR Peptides vial ships with storage guidance and a Certificate of Analysis for the lot, so you know exactly what you started with.
