The single feature that tells these apart isn't price or packaging — it's whether you can verify the specific batch you received against its own Certificate of Analysis. Here's why that matters, and how to actually do it.

A CoA is only as good as its batch match

A Certificate of Analysis describes one production lot. If a seller shows you a CoA but you can't tie it to your vial's lot number, the document proves nothing about the material in front of you — it could belong to a different batch entirely. Batch verification closes that gap: you enter the lot code printed on your vial, and it resolves to the exact certificate for that lot. Purity, identity, test date — for your material, not a stand-in.

Why it matters more in a grey market

Two vials labelled the same can be very different materials. Without a way to check the batch, you're trusting a label, and labels are the easiest thing in the world to print. Verification shifts you from trusting a claim to checking a record.
